Multicultural / Diverse / Picturebooks
2016년 제주도에 어린이와 어른들이 세상에 존재하는 다양한 문화와 삶을 더 깊이 이해할 수 있도록 돕는 공간, 코루 다문화 다양성 그림책도서관을 열었습니다. 책과 예술, 그리고 Mindful Learning을 함께 나누며 이러한 경험들이 사람들의 삶에 작은 변화와 연결을 만들어내는 것을 보았습니다.
이 경험은 코루의 여정을 더 넓은 세상으로 이끌었고, 2022년에는 미국 애리조나주 투손에 두 번째 공간을 열게 되었습니다.
코루는 그림책, Mindful Learning, 그리고 창의적 표현을 통해 자기 자신과 다른 생명들을 이어주는 힘을 탐색하는 공간입니다.
그림책과 문학을 바탕으로 한 문해·문학·예술 수업부터 다양한 워크숍과 다문화 행사까지 여러 프로그램을 열며, 어린이와 어른 모두가 읽고 느끼고 창작하며 함께 성장할 수 있는 안전하고 포용적인 배움의 공간을 만들어 가고자 합니다.
코루는 작은 목소리들이 들려주는 이야기 속에 담긴 조용하지만 깊은 힘을 믿습니다. 서로 다른 목소리와 다양한 배움의 방식을 소중히 키워 가며,
같은 가치를 나누는 교육자와 부모, 예술가, 그리고 커뮤니티를 만들어 가는 사람들과 연결되기를 바랍니다.
Diverse Library
Many of the books in our library have been donated from around the world by family, friends, patrons, and complete strangers who learned of us through our social networks. Other books were procured in countries such as Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and the USA. We have also received books from authors, artists, and educators.
